Vikings in the Bahamas

Elisabeth Vonstett & Kristian Kjolner from Norway have been coming to Abaco for a few years, decided to buy a boat, quit their jobs and go cruising. They bought the boat "Fruitcakes" a year ago, moored it at Elbow Cay to await their return last fall. And then Floyd! They showed up last October, found Fruitcake barely afloat. They spent a couple of months at Sea Spray getting things back in order and met a lot of folks here. They are now cruising the Bahamas and keeping a log of their travels on a website that now has an English section. You may find it interesting.

The Tangelo is Back!

Actually the Tangelo Hotel and Restaurant was never really closed after Floyd although it was damaged. But the phones have been out and the van that was used as the airport shuttle was flooded with salt water. Finally the phones are back, although not wired properly into the office, the fax is still out and we have to forward email until the new computer arrives . And there is a new van.

And there is still the superb bonefishing. If you are the adventuresome type who wants to be away from the normal tourist spots (far away!) and enjoys being treated as family, you must consider the Tangelo New Pictures from Guana -

We are pleased that Sea Spray Resort has joined as one of our supporters here on Abaco. Ruth and Monty have been busy working on the real Sea Spray after Floyd, but keep an eye on the website, there is a rebuilding coming in cyberspace also.

Just before Christmas, Sandra Irish, a schoolteacher in Texas, mobilized her class and a host of volunteers to collect, pack and transport over 2,000 books for the  Pinder School in Sandy Point. We have the latest set of pictures from Sandra in The Abaco Scrap Book.

There are also fresh pictures from Sandra Taylor of Green Turtle and from Janet and the Flying Dogs- Guana and Elbow Cay.

We finally have our overall site update project moving (at an Abaco pace). Our new Diving - Scuba and Snorkel Guide is in place with images from space of the some of our reefs courtesy of the Abaco ImageMap. Best of all, both Brendal's Dive Center and the Green Turtle Club have updated their information for divers.
